An end is a single round of play in curling in which each team delivers eight stones.

A standard curling team consists of four players.

The house is the circular target area at each end of the sheet.

The button is the exact center of the house. Stones closest to the button are most likely to score, as scoring is determined by proximity to this central point.

The hog line is a line that stones must completely cross to remain in play.

If a stone does not cross the near hog line after being released, it is removed from play. This rule ensures that players deliver stones with sufficient force.

Sweeping reduces friction between the stone and the ice, allowing it to travel farther and slightly altering its direction.

The skip is the team captain and strategist. The skip stands in the house to call shots and directs teammates on how and where to deliver each stone.

A team can score up to eight points in a single end if all eight of its stones are closer to the button than any of the opponent’s stones.

Only the team with the stone closest to the button scores in an end. They receive one point for each stone that is closer to the button than the opponent’s nearest stone.
